Join Us To Hike The First 2.5 Miles Of The Canyon Section Of The Salmonberry!

Please read the Volunteer Waiver here (opens in new tab).

We are planning a hike along the future Salmonberry trail west from Cochran Pond on Monday, June 26th, meeting at the Cochran "trailhead" at 8:00 am. This is the eastern gateway to the Canyon Segment of the trail. The goal is to get to the Baldwin Creek Trestle, a 5-mile round trip. For extra credit, some of us can try to get to the Wolf Creek Trestle, a 7.2-mile round trip. These are two of the longest, tallest, and most interesting bridges on the entire Salmonberry corridor. If those destinations sound like too much, you can also turn back at tunnel #26, which makes a 3.6-mile round-trip hike.

There will be plenty of hiking challenges since no work has been done to clear this trail—plan on lots of foliage and brambles, water on the tracks, and down trees. We will be going through tunnel #26, which is curved, so bring a flashlight because it is dark in the middle.
