Thank You + End-Of-Year Giving Opportunities
The Salmonberry Trail is a large, vibrant community—a tapestry woven over 82 milesthrough diverse communities and landscapes. From the farmlands of western Washington County to the native steelhead runs of the Salmonberry River and the waterways along the Oregon Coast, we represent a wide diversity of interests. The vision for Oregon’s next great adventure, the Salmonberry Trail, unites us.
The Salmonberry will be a place of discovery for Oregonians and visitors alike, offering economic and health benefits, opportunities for education, and all kinds of recreation—biking, hiking, fishing, and horseback riding—acting as a critical connector between communities.
We work with many partners to bring this vision to reality, navigating our differences to find common ground. Together, we’re creating a path forward. This work takes time and effort, and we are proud of our progress over the past year.
We’re developing a robust Volunteer Program, which harnessed over 10,000 hours performing a wide range of activities, including:
Clearing 11 miles of invasive species to enable surveys and salvage.
Leading more than 50 Guided Hikes, introducing Oregonians to the trail in Washington and Tillamook Counties.
We have started the complex process of building trail in Washington and Tillamook Counties.
Removed 7 miles of railroad ties and rails, leaving a gravel bed ready for the next stage of development.
Reached an agreement about the Permitting process and expect to begin in early 2025.
Over the next two years, we plan to complete up to 8 miles of trail across four projects in Wheeler, Rockaway Beach, the Catalyst Loop into Stub Stewart State Park, and a walking path around the Tillamook Creamery.
It will take dedicated volunteers, donors, and public-private partnerships to complete the trail. Success for the Salmonberry Trail requires us to contribute what we can to build Oregon’s next great adventure.
We are inspired by other stories of Oregonians who fought for their dreams, leaving behind a legacy we benefit from today. Your ongoing commitment will help us maintain momentum, bringing us closer to completing the Salmonberry Trail—a legacy that, like Crater Lake, the Columbia River Gorge, and Oregon’s Public Beaches, will become a cherished treasure for Oregonians and visitors alike.
Reflecting on the past year at the Salmonberry Trail Foundation, gratitude best describes how we feel about our progress. All our efforts have brought a deep connection to our shared history, richness in new relationships, opportunities for collaboration, and hope for the future of what we can build together.
Together, we are building an extraordinary legacy for Oregon.
Join us for the next phase of this journey.
